Scattered Minds - eye opening on ADHD

1 min read

Super interesting stuff, and an easy 5 stars from me.

I personally have a few ADHD traits, so reading this was eye opening. It helped me spot some of my own habits and tendencies which I could improve on more. Two stood out: my sense of time, and how quickly I forget things if I don’t put in effort. It even inspired me to try to learn the mind palace technique, and I made some really good progress with that. I feel like I can remember things now if I put in the effort.

Part of what sold me is the author himself. He not only has ADHD, he’s also a doctor and has two children with ADHD. He seemed extremely qualified to write on the subject.

The theory of how ADHD forms was interesting, and so were the recommendations for parents and teachers. But the best part of the book for me was the advice on how to improve and “grow out” of the various ADHD traits. He breaks them down one by one and then explains how to overcome each of them.

I think this book can really help people understand and overcome attention problems, and better understand friends and family who might have those traits. The first person I’d hand it to is someone who thinks they have ADHD, or has symptoms of it. It was great the whole way through.
